Normal service resumed ...summer update

Sorry we have had a break in service as yours truly blogmaster has been on holiday! There is a lot to catch up on .....

Firstly, the junior championship.  Congratulations to our new junior champion Mark Brooks.  Congratulations to runner up and defending champion Danny Hendry and semi-finalists Alessio Margiotta  and Cameron Ledingham.

Well done to everyone who qualified and played the matches is such a friendly and sporting manner.  You are all a credit to your families and the club.

Mark towering above the rest!
Scottish Boys and Girls Amateur Championship

I don't need that ladder!

Five of our members took part in the first ever joint Scottish Boys' and Girls' Championship; Lucy Morrison, Mark Brooks, Sam Hall, Danny Hendry and Conor O'Toole. Sam and Conor both made the cut and progressed to the match-play stages losing narrowly in the second round. Danny nearly got there too but lost out narrowly due to wee blip at the end of his second strokeplay round.  They will come back fighting next year with all the more experience.

Achievements
Congratulations to Conor O'Toole who has been selected to represent Scotland in an under 16 friendly match against an under 16 French team this weekend at The Kittocks in St Andrews. Conor has also managed to secure a place in the English Boys' U16 Open Amateur Stroke Play (McGregor Trophy) starting on 18 July in a strong international field.

Sam Hall has been selected to play in the Lothian's Boys Team in a match against Angus today, Friday 7 July 2017 at Downfield Golf Club.

Craigmillar Park Junior Open
Our Junior open was held yesterday and given that two opens were cancelled this week due to lack of numbers and that we are currently not on the Lothian's Order of Merit rota, we were delighted to have nearly 40 entrants

Huge congratulations to Conor O'Toole who won the event with a fantastic scratch score of 65 and reduced his handicap to 1.1. Lucy Hall was 4th scratch (the only girl in the prizewinners) with a nett 62, reducing her handicap to 16.1.

The handicap winner was Sam Westwood (Renaissance) 76 (17) 59 and the winner of the 15 and under Kilgour Trophy was Kerr Sutherland (Peebles). See below for full list of prize winners.  Photos to follow.

Scottish Junior open
Well done Toby Appleyard, Lucy Hall and Blair Welsh who together with Iain Welsh, finished equal 2nd in the Scottish Junior Open qualifier at Peebles this week. On the eve of a number of the world’s best golfers teeing up at Dundonald, they now get to play in the Junior Scottish Open staged nearby over the excellent municipal layout of Troon Links, Lochgreen next Tuesday. Good luck team!
