Signing up for competitions
  • Juniors with handicaps should enter through the CPGC online booking system.  Booking will open approximately 3-4 weeks before the competition date and close at 10am on the Thursday prior to the competition. You can turn up on the day to play but will only be able to play if a slot is available.  The draw will not be changed to accommodate you and you must play where a space is available, regardless of handicaps.
  • Non-handicap juniors should indicate their availability via team App, or by email on occasions when requested.
Team App
Apart from medals (for juniors with handicaps) all communication will be via Team App.  Email reminders will not be sent. If you haven’t already done so, please sign up to Team App and then join the relevant groups:
  • Pre-handicaps competitions and events
  • Monday evening roll ups
  • Medals and competitions (for juniors with handicaps)
Through team App you will receive automatic reminders as well as messages about start times and cancellations etc.  You will also be able to contact each other via the ‘Chat’ facility.  This is a safe medium for kids themselves to use if you wish as it will be monitored by the CPGC admin team.
Team App is a platform that allows teams and social groups to improve communication by creating their very own smartphone App.

Rules for flag competitions and cards

  • A parent or another adult (over 18), nominated by the parent, must supervise each child on the course. The role is chiefly to keep the player’s score and supervise their behaviour.
  • All rounds will comprise a maximum of 9 holes from the blue tees
  • Each competitor shall have 36 shots only, and shall place their flag where their 36th shot comes to rest.
  • Competitors may carry on if they wish to complete the full 9 holes.
  • Not more than 10 strokes in total may be taken at any hole, including a maximum of 4 putts on any green.
  • If a competitor reaches the maximum strokes or putts for that hole they will record their score as 10 and progress to the next hole.
  • After three failed attempts to get out of a bunker, a competitor may throw their ball nearer the hole for no penalty, but only the three strokes in the bunker will count.
  • Once each hole is finished, the supervisors and players should agree each player’s score and record it on the scorecard.

Certificates
Players will be awarded achievement certificates as follows:
  • Bronze Award: for reaching the hole at the 5th with their flag
  • Silver Award: for reaching the hole at the 7th with their flag
  • Gold Award: for reaching the hole at the 9th with their flag
When a player has achieved a Gold award (or when the parent and player both think they are ready) we will discuss the option of moving to the back tees and working towards achieving a Club Handicap.  If you think you are ready for this step, please contact a member of the Junior Committee.
